A Taste of Naples

Leave a little room at breakfast, as this morning you will enjoy a guided street-food walking tour of Naples. Your guide is passionate about this region’s food as well as the city, so you can be sure of plenty of insights and tasters along the way. You will learn about the history and culinary influences left by the Greeks and Romans during their dominion over the city. With regular stops to taste some of the city’s renowned street-food, your sightseeing highlights will include: Piazza Plebiscito with the magnificent Royal Palace; the Duomo; a walk along the bay front, enjoying views out to Mt. Vesuvius; a stroll inside the food market Pignasecca; and the famous “Spaccanapoli”. This is a great introduction to Naples, and there will be plenty of time to explore the city further at your own pace this afternoon.

After breakfast depart on an excursion to discover the ancient ruins of Pompeii. This exclusive tour will skip the lines allowing you to spend more time exploring this Roman city stuck in time with its perfectly preserved houses, frescoes and everyday objects. You will also see the hauntingly beautiful stone figures of bodies caught in a moment of anguish and pain, preserved for eternity by the hot ash of Vesuvius.. 

After learning all about Pompeii and the tragic events of AD79 you will be transferred to the foot of Mt. Vesuvius to enjoy a lunch of local specialities, washed down by the best of local wines.  The tastes and aromas of your lunch will be enhanced by the spectacular views over the Gulf of Naples. After lunch, your guide will accompany you on a  tour of the vineyards where you can learn the various cultivation methods and production techniques of one of the most popular wines in the area.
