This wonderful duet will certainly leave you wanting more! Two of Italy’s most historical and culturally rich cities combine to create a thrilling short break filled with a host of activities, sights and sounds. Rome, a city like no other, exudes a rich history from every pour; whilst a walk through Venice, AKA La Serenissima (most serene) is like stepping into a piece of renaissance art.

On arrival in Rome you will be transferred by private car to your hotel. Depending on when you arrive, there may be some time to explore the local area before enjoying a delightful welcome dinner including the best of local produce.

Explore the Eternal City at your leisure today using the included Hop-on Hop-off Bus ticket which affords an excellent introduction to the city with the English audio commentary. Hop off when you see an area you want to explore, and jump on another bus to continue your tour. With so much to see in this sprawling city full of architectural wonders; you can tailor the day to your requirements.

After breakfast you will enjoy a morning tasting tour followed by a pasta making class at a local restaurant. Your knowledgeable guide will walk you through Campo de Fiori, perhaps the most beautiful and ancient market in Rome. Located close to Piazza Navona, you will find a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, cheeses, meats, flowers and other typical products of Rome. Enjoy tasting on the go as you explore the market and local area; taste the most special Italian cold cuts, two types of balsamic vinegar, two types of extra virgin olive oil, two types of pate (the classic pesto and another based on seasonality), and wash it down with two liqueurs (a limoncello and a cream one of your choice). There will be plenty of time to make some purchases on the way, and your guide will keep you informed about the history of the area as you explore. At the end of the tour you can learn some key skills at the pasta making class in a Restaurant in Piazza Navona. Learn how to make the pasta from scratch and choose the pasta sauce you prefer, for example Amatriciana or Carbonara. Enjoy your own pasta for lunch with a good glass of wine.
The afternoon is free to walk off the excesses of the morning by taking in some of Rome’s many attractions. The centre of Rome is easily explored on foot and there are sure to be delights found around every corner.

This morning you will depart by train to Venice. On arrival, make your way to your hotel for check-in. This afternoon you enjoy an introductory walking tour of the city of Doges.

After a morning at leisure – join your guide for an unforgettable tour of four bacaro (typical Venetian taverns), where you will enjoy a delicious standing lunch with traditional Venetian Cicchetti (an Italian version of tapas). Your tour will include a visit to the Rialto market and a ferry-gondola ride. Enjoy some of the finest Veneto wines and taste the best food the city of Venice has to offer in a typical Venetian Osteria.
The bacaro are in the Cannaregio, Misericordia and Rialto areas. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the backstreets of Venice – or revisit your favourite bacari!
