Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Milan, Italy

Private transfer from Malpensa airport to Alba – check-in at the chosen accommodation facility. Alba is a creative Unesco City for Gastronomy in Italy and the Capital of Langhe hills.

The ancient town reveals its special appeal in the picturesque charm of numerous towers and houses surviving from an urban system dating back thousands of years. Today the towers continue to be the dominant feature of the old town centre, where visitors can admire churches, bell-towers, porticos, and public and private buildings testifying to its splendid history. At the same time, nice boutiques, elegant typical products shops and art exhibitions show its vivid and cosmopolitan attitude in a characteristic and traditional frame. On Saturday morning, the town is even more lively thanks to the weekly market.

Dinner in a characteristic restaurant downtown (booking only) and overnight stay.

Day 2Walking tour and Cookery course

After breakfast, meeting with your local guide for a “warm-up” walking tour downtown.

Free time for lunch.

In the afternoon, after a 2-km walk (about 1.2 miles), time to experience a local cookery course in a small and familiar cooking school. Preparation of a traditional menu to discover the roots of our local food & wine culture, picking up some of the secrets behind the flavours and ingredients from an expert cook, alongside magical ways of combining them to create the dishes of the Langhe and Roero in order to take a part of our land back home forever. After the course, dinner with the dishes prepared to toast to the wine &food valley. Walk back to your accommodation.

Overnight stay.

Day 3Hiking, Wine tasting, visit to Barbaresco town centre & Neive

After breakfast, meeting with our private English-speaking hiking guide for a full immersion in the  Unesco vineyard landscapes of the Barbaresco wine area.

In the Langhe hills, the Nebbiolo vine species has three elective areas: Barolo, Barbaresco and Roero,  all lying in a radius of 15 km from the town of Alba. Of these three, the smallest and most particular one is RSI Group S.U.R.L. Unipersonale Sede legale: Via Nazionale, 200 – 00184 Roma P.I./ C.F.  10367421004 Capitale Sociale Euro 10 mila i.v. R.E.A. RM 1396852 Barbaresco, this is precisely the area that includes just four municipalities (Barbaresco, Neive, Treiso and a hamlet in Alba, San Rocco
Seno d’Elvio).

The clay-limestone composition of the soil is enriched with sand and blue marl, making the wines in this area famous for their natural elegance and feminine persuasive touch.

Guided visit to a Barbaresco wine cellar with tasting. Although their wines can be found all over the world, the best way to taste them is still in their place of origin: a visit with a walk through the rows of vines, a tour of the barrel cellar and a stop in our tasting room will explain much more than words ever can. Arrival to Barbaresco town centre and possibility to admire the scenery from the panoramic tower, stretching from Langhe and Roero hills to the Alpine Arch.

Free time for lunch, and then off towards Neive, one of the most beautiful town in Italy. Back to Alba (possibility to go back by taxi), the guide leaves the guests.

Dinner in a characteristic restaurant of the area (booking only) and overnight stay.

Day 4Cheese making process in Alta Langa, visit Grinzane Cavour Castle

After breakfast, departure towards the Alta Langa region with a private driver.

Visit to a small traditional cheese producer: pasture, sheepfold, milking room, cheese making process, ageing and tasting lunch with typical products and cheeses in the rustic and simple atmosphere of the shepherd’s home. Relax to enjoy the landscape and the pure air. In the afternoon, the panoramic tour continues, with a visit to Grinzane Cavour Castle, the most representative landmark of the region.

Back to the accommodation, the driver leaves the guests.

Dinner in a characteristic restaurant of the area (booking only) and overnight stay.

Day 5Self-guided tour of Barolo area by e-bike

After breakfast, briefing on the use of the e-bikes at the bike shop.

Explanation about grape types, wine production, methods, stages of wine making process, tasting of wines. Light lunch at the winery.
